The founder, Stefanos Stratis, is a professional Hotelier who was educated in Swiss Hotel Schools and gained invaluable experience in kitchens of the Palace and Grand hotels in Lausanne and Swiss Mountain resorts.
While serving as Director in a Luxury Hotel in Athens, in the seventies, he decided to acquire land for a family owned and operated hotel in Eretria. And indeed he did so in the early eighties by buying a residential garden property, four kilometers south of the town of Eretria.

His knowledge and passion for fine cuisine helped him establish Hotel Miramare in Eretria which, with the support of his wife Rena, gained high reputation for high quality, ambiance and personalized service.

With continuous effort he managed to expand the main house by adding pavilions, outdoor and indoor pool, tennis courts and fitness rooms. For the safety of the guests he had a tunnel built under the main street which gave the guests direct access to the beach.

Combined family efforts and dedication to hard work led to the purchase of 11.000m2 beach front land in the outskirts north of Eretria.
The construction of the new resort commenced in the autumn of 2002. Its completion came in less than two years in April 2004 the year that Athens hosted the Olympic Games of 2004. It was then that the Resort opened its doors as Negroponte Resort Eretria 5* and was honored to host, among its first guests, the Members of the Irish Olympic Committee.

The premises are composed of 107 Rooms and suites, generous lobby and bar area in finest marble. The marble for the public areas and guest rooms was carefully selected from the neighboring island of Skyros.
The Ballroom, with a capacity of 500 people, is ideal for big parties i.e. weddings.
The conference rooms, with a capacity of 300 people, are ideal for seminars and conferences.

Our reputation for quality fine food and personalized service brings to the resort not only Athenians and Greek guests from all over the land but also international clients.

Today Helen and Nikos, second generation Stratis, who were educated in Switzerland at the famous Ecole Hôtelière de Lausanne, continue the family philosophy, that of creating an environment not only ecologically friendly but also one of the highest repute and incomparable quality to last for generations to come.
Stefanos, the father, is always on their side acting as their mentor.
